Jesus didn't just wear a crown, He wore an apron. He is the ultimate servant to others. His service of us and His example drive us to sacrificially serve one another at Northern Hope.

It's Everyone!
Jesus is awesome! He has set the church up so that we all need each others gifts and abilities. Ministry doesn’t get outsourced to only the paid staff and pastors. All of God’s people are called to love, serve and care for each other so that His church will grow in both number and maturity.
Serving isn’t just something that happens on a Sunday either. At Northern Hope our people minister to each other and our community at growth groups, kids playgroup, prayer meetings, pastoral care teams and by sharing life together. It’s a wonderful joy to be in a community that looks out for each other like this.
Brendan Hurley (Senior Pastor)
Brendan grew up in Sydney and became a follower of Jesus when a friend of his asked him “have you ever read the Bible for yourself?” He then read Matthew’s Gospel and was gripped by how incredible Jesus was. Encountering Jesus in the Bible changed his life forever.
Years later Brendan worked as a bank teller before He moved to Perth to marry the beautiful Laura and to study at Trinity Theological College. He has served at churches in Sydney, Perth, Geraldton, Broken Hill and now in the tropical paradise that is Cairns. Brendan and Laura have 5 awesome kids; Ethan, Jake, Ollie, Grace and Geneva. In his spare time Brendan enjoys coffee, painting and playing golf.

I live in Redlynch with my husband David. Our two sons and families live nearby. We first came to Australia from England in 2005 and have been serving with Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) since 2006, initially in Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory, on Elcho Island and more recently based in Cairns. I spend time helping out as a grandmother which I enjoy very much and I also enjoy coffees with friends, reading, exploring the local beaches and other beautiful places in Queensland and spending time with the family.
OUR STORY...
At Northern Hope Anglican Church, Cairns
we are a group of ordinary people following an extraordinary God, and under him started this new church aligned with Gafcon and in the new diocese of the Southern Cross on the 8.1.23. Empowered by the Spirit we are hoping to make disciples of Jesus to the glory of God the Father.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
The GAFCON journey began in 2008 when moral compromise, doctrinal error and the collapse of biblical witness in parts of the Anglican communion had reached such a level that the leaders of the majority of the world’s Anglicans felt it was necessary to take a united stand for truth. A crowd of more than one thousand witnesses, including Primates, Archbishops, Bishops, clergy and lay leaders gathered in Jerusalem for the first Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON)
GAFCON Australia is the local Australian expression of GAFCON. Its principal objectives are:

To promote orthodox Anglican faith and practice as set forth in the Jerusalem Declaration and in the Fundamental Declarations and Ruling Principles of the Constitution of the Anglican Church of Australia;

To help reform, heal and revitalize the Anglican Communion and expand its mission to the world.

To provide fellowship to orthodox Anglicans who find themselves in a minority position in their own Dioceses due to the actions of others who depart from orthodox faith and practice.
Northern Hope Anglican Church assents to the GAFCON Jerusalem Declaration (2008) and supports GAFCON Australia in its objectives and aims.
